We have also made our own bi planes like the Gypsy Moth Amy Johnson flew in.
We have drawn our version of Amy Johnson's biplane 'Jason.' We used oil pastels and a colour wash as we had learned these skills during Art Day. Finally we found a photo of Amy and placed it in the cockpit of the plane.
This is Amy Johnson, we will be learning all about her life and why she is famous during topic week.
This week is topic week. On Monday a large parcel arrived with lots of unusual objects in.....
On Monday we celebrated National Art Day. We decided we would find out all about the famous Russain artist Wassily Kandinsky. We discovered that he used to be a teacher but gave that up to study art. We learned that he was one of the first 'abstract' artists. This means he did not paint real things, he used colour and shapes to create his artwork. We looked at his 'Concentric Circles' and then used lots of different resources to create our own. We use oil pastels and watered down paint, felt pens, torn paper, chalk, pot lids and paint. The results were amazing. You can see our artwork displayed in our classroom and on our door.
We have PE on the first day back after Easter. (Monday 16th April) Please make sure you have your PE kit, including suitable shoes and a warm sweatshirt.

In Science we have been learning that most living things live in habitats which provide for their basic needs. To help us remember the different features of some different habitats we used collage materials to create them.
This is Angelica Sprocket, she has pockets galore! During Book Week Falcons class read the Quentin Blake book and then made our own Angelica. Come and have a look in her pockets next time you are passing by.
This week is E-Safety week. Please read the following tips for staying safe when using the internet.
As part of Maytree Festival of Culture Year 2 have been learning all about Brazil. In Falcons Class today we have found out all about Mardis Gras. We discovered that it is illeagal to ride on a carnival float without a mask! We also found out that Mardis Gras is celebrated in the month of February. We decided we would like to make some carnival masks and flags to remind us of our learning.
We also tried some papaya as it is a fruit commonly grown in Brazil because of the hot climate. It met with some mixed reactions, some children enjoyed it, some really didn't! It's always good to try something new! We had great fun learning some traditional Brazilian dancing too!
In Falcons Class today we were investigating materials. We were trying to find the most suitable material from which to make a coat for our puppets.
