Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities, and terms of appointment for each Governor.
All over the country, school governors are assisting headteachers and staff, ensuring the next generation gets the best from school. The government is committed to raising educational standards in the classroom, and to increasing the role of parents and the local community. Governors bring a range of experience and interests from many walks of life. They work closely with others to make good decisions - and make sure their decisions are followed up.
The governing body's main role is to help raise standards of achievement. It:-
is accountable for the performance of the school to parents and the wider community
plans the schools future and upholds the school’s vision
selects the headteacher
makes decisions on the school's budget and staffing
ensures the National Curriculum is taught
decides how the school can encourage pupils' spiritual, moral and cultural development
makes sure the school provides for all its pupils, including those with special needs
The Governing Body is organised into three main Committees, the Whole Governing Body, the Personnel and Standards Committee and Finance Committee. Other Committees are set up, as required, eg a committee for hearing a grievance.
Whole Governing Body is responsible for the overall governance of the school.
The Chair is Ms. Satvir Kaur and Vice-Chair is Mrs. Pat O'Dell.
The Personnel and Standards Committee broadly has responsibility for Teaching and Learning and outcomes for children.
The Chair for the Personnel and Standards Committee is Mrs. Pat O'Dell.
The Finance Committee broadly has responsibility for ratifying the school budget and ensure value for money.
The Chair for the Finance Committee is Ms. Satvir Kaur.
Each Committee reports to the Whole Governing Body.
Our Vision Statement
The Governing Body works together in a climate of mutual respect and trust,
supporting the school to develop in an inspirational and forward-thinking manner.
It does this by providing a strategic steer and operating as a critical friend.
The children will always be at the heart of every decision it makes.
As a body, it will work towards the whole school vision by thinking and
acting strategically while challenging and supporting the work of the school.
